I am now to the "fun" part of decorating and hanging stuff on the walls so it's kinda like I paid my dues and now I get to enjoy some of the fun.
One thing we did was paint the furniture in the room. It is amazing the transformation a little bit of paint can create.
I decided to reuse the old oak desks we had downstairs but they really looked like ... let's say...... OAK. ha ha I want my look to be shabby shee she. A little paint....wow what a difference it makes.
I also was lucky enough to find this cute little table with fold down sides. Dark wood but LOTS of potential. Sooooo, a little white paint.....great Transformation I think. I am going to try and add wheels so I can store it in a corner in the studio and then "roll" it out to create.
Now the questions is.......If I throw a layer of paint on me will I be transformed??
One can only hope but I guess that's for my New Year's Resolution. For now, I'll just be happy with furniture transformations..........I'm itching to paint something else :}
Happy Thanksgiving!!!

Today is my birthday. I no longer celebrate my youth but my luck of being happy and healthy and having FAMILY and FRIENDS that I can celebrate with.
We all met up at the Beach Grass Cafe in a Poway shopping center. The center contains 7 thrift stores. I gave each of my friends a list with clues to help them go thru the stores and find little envelopes I left in "mostly" open view. :}
We all enjoyed a little hunt and a little shopping and then returned to the cafe to lunch and a few prizes for the most ""agressive scavenger ha ha Winners were Miss Vicky, Elena, Kat, Sally, June (it is June's birthday today too) yay!
What can I say but a BIG THANK YOU to those that came and helped me celebrate. If you couldn't make it, I know "stuff" happens but you were missed.

So much is going on!!!
Hello and Happy Halloween!
Hope you are having a boo - d- ful evening.
As before, I've been pushing through my STUFF and by golly making headway with the help of my friend, Bonnie.
The best news is my niece, Kathy had a baby girl, Danica Lynn on Monday afternoon (October 26) and she is a cutey of course.
I want to make her family a few meals that can be frozen and taken out of the freezer and cooked easily and have been checking out recipes on the net but thought hey why don't I ask my friends what their favorite recipes are.
I am sure you all have some favorites that you like to make or find simple but pleasing. Want to share, I know I would benefit from your recipes and I am thinking others might too.
So if you have a GREAT idea/recipe, please post it here in your reply.
More soon...........those going off daylight savings don't forget to set your clock one hour BACK tonight as you go to bed.
Ciao

Studio Clean Up! Sneak Peek :}
Still busy cleaning and de-stuffing. Gosh, where did I get all this STUFF?? Okay, okay I know I'm a shopper. I do realize when I find a deal for some reason I have to buy multiples instead of one. I SWEAR I am NOT going to do that in future.
This week I had a handyman in and he hung window blinds and shelves for ALL MY STUFF. It all won't fit but then I will purge some more.
I still have to clean out the garage cause YOU GUESSED IT I have MORE stuff! Then I will be ready to re-assemble the studio.
Of course, since I had the shelves put up I had to put some stuff out and play a little so I decided to take a picture to share.
Here's a little sneak peek. More soon, have a great weekend.

Happy Birthday Bonnie
Well, as my usual self, I am behind in blogging and so this is a belated shout out to Bonnie for her birthday. Luckily, I got to attend a creative session and celebration for her birthday so I don't feel anything but good about knowing such a great person and actually creating a gift for her.
I was at a art show and saw a dress form display that was sooo cute. Bonnie and I had been out shopping one day and she had looked at some little dress forms for display but they were pretty pricey. So when I spied these little displays I knew I could use it as inspiration for her present.
I used a paper maiche dress form, a brass stick, a match stick box, paint and clay and glitter.
I cut a hole in my little dress form and put the box from the match stick box inside, gluing and sealing into place. Painting the overall surface BLUE (a Bonnie color :}
I took the brass candle stick and used those faux finishes to antique and rust the base. I used clay to shape a heart and used a letter "B" with glitter to personalize her dress form.
I love it when something comes out as I imagined (lots don't ha ha) and I think Bonnie liked it so my job was a success.
Happy Birthday Bonnie, glad you're my friend.

Days of Whirlwinds with Family and Friends
Hey Everyone sorry it's been so long since I posted but I have just been in a whirlwind trying to do everything I "think" I should be doing. It is so true what they say that as you grow older time goes faster and I find it hard to get all I want to do done.
I have decided to cut back as necessary and paddle as fast as I can to catch up. I want to enjoy the holidays so I am working to get EVERYTHING done and in it's place so that will happen.....well here's hoping. ha ha
My sister and I took a trip to LA to visit my niece and her 3 kids and then a little side stop to visit her younger daughter's new apartment. I also had breakfast with my other niece and her two cutey kids....such fun. Kids are just so amazing.

I have joined a group of creativity ladies in a monthly swap and sometimes they come up with the wildest ideas of what we should use to create "art".
For September someone suggested using old wooden sewing spools and altering them. OKAY....I like the look of vintage, wooden sewing spools in a bowl but what the heck can you POSSIBILY make out a spool that would be cute, showy, or useable???? I racked my brain and luckily while shopping at my local thrift store something "called" to me and I came up with a plan. yay!
I found these cute little ceramic cherubs that are used for place settings. It had a blank slate to write the person's name for their place at the table....very cute and I could really see using them for their manufacturered purpose but what fun would that be??? :}
I painted a couple, some I left the original white. I used german glass glitter to make a place for my little quip...WISH, BELIEVE, HOPE, etc. I then glued them to a wooden spool (since it was a spool swap had to do it ha ha)

I finished them with lace that I wound on the spool. I figure this way the owner can use the lace for one of their projects.

Now I hope you like what I did but wait.............the cool thing about a swap is each person puts their slant on their creations and boy oh boy did they create some beautiful wooden spools...9
Saturday, September 19th I went to the Vignettes Anniversary Party in Ocean Beach. I picked up my friend Lydia (known her for like 30 years) and we had fun shopping and drinking champagne.

NO this isn't Lydia....this lady knows how to dress for an anniversary party doesn't she?

This is Lydia, California casual and loving every minute of it :}
My "internet friend" Sandy came to visit some friends and luckily she was in Coronado near me so I got to meetup with her and some other artsy friends for lunch. It is so wonderful to meet someone in person like Sandy. She is just as she "types" on the net and I have been drawn to her art and shopping sense mostly because it is essentially like mine. We had a great lunch and a short visit. Hope there will be more. BE sure and visit her blog, it's always interesting and PRETTY tee hee

My granddaughter's 21st birthday is October 10th so I am feverishly working on her scrapbook. It's coming along and I know she will love it. Hopefully she'll get to take it home cause the one I made for her brother, his Mother INSISTED on keeping it at her home. :}

Okay there's more that I've been doing but this makes me feel like I have caught you up to date "a little" and I can mark that off my "to do list" for a week or so.
I am REALLY working on my studio and luckily, Bonnie is helping me. Today we CLEARED and I now have a good feel what needs to be done..........I will have before and after pictures so hopefully you will get to see them in a few weeks and I will have a beautiful studio ready for play.
Hope your whirlwinds are full of money or love...hugs, jackie

Our Paperbag Christmas Books
What some of may or may not know is that I hold "art meetups" at my home each month and we work on different projects.
In July we started a Paperbag Christmas Book and then came back this month and completed them or made a good attempt to finish them :}
They are amazing and here are a few pics of what my creative friends did.
Merry Christmas :}
